S.O.A.P. Matthew 2:12

S – “Having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they (the magi or wise men) returned to their country by another route.”

O – Although the king of the land, Herod, had ordered them to return to Him with the location of baby Jesus, their fear of the Lord was greater. They refused to obey the king in order to obey God and protect His Son.

A – Before finding Jesus, I had my own plans for my life. I would follow the directions or orders of others (ex: the world, my mom) because I was not confident in my own ability to make my own decisions. I did not have the Holy Spirit nor wise counsel to seek. But once I found Jesus, I (like the wise men) became more focused on the direction God was leading me versus the world or people in it. Although it can be scary not to follow the “laws of the land” or guidance from another person, upon finding Jesus your eyes will be opened to true wise counsel versus worldly knowledge or advice.

P – Dear Lord, thank you for continually growing inside me. Thank you for giving me discernment to see the difference between your leading me versus the world leading me. I pray you continue to grow me in this area through your supernatural peace, that I never have to question whether it’s you or the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
