Matthew 7: The Will of My Father

Read Matthew 7

S.O.A.P. Matthew 7:21

(Scripture. Observation. Application. Prayer.)

S – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

O – I should seek to do the will of my Father in heaven and be obedient to Him. Truthfully, this scripture stirs up a bit of fear in me. Jesus says, the gate to heaven is narrow and only few will enter, whereas the gate to hell is wide. Not everyone who talks about heaven belongs to God’s Kingdom. Jesus is more concerned with our walk than with our talk. He wants us to do right, not just say the right words. On judgement day, our relationship with Christ, acceptance to Him as our savior, and obedience to Him will be all that matters. Faith in Christ is what will matter at the judgement.

A – Continuing to build and seek a relationship with Jesus will continue to convict my heart to do His will and all God is calling me to do. Let me be obedient to His will for me, joyfully, regardless of the cost.

P – Dear Lord, thank you for pursuing my heart to have a more intimate relationship with you. Help me to walk in humility so you can use me for the glory of your Kingdom. Make me like Job who praises and trusts you in all circumstances. Help me to walk with you, trusting in you fully. Let me spring into action when I feel you calling me and not find excuses to stay in comfort. Use me as a light for your kingdom on the earth so that all who see me will see you. In Jesus name, amen.
