Matthew 3: Grow

Read Matthew 3

S.O.A.P Focus: Matthew 3:10

(Scripture. Observation. Application. Prayer)

S – “The ax is already at the foot of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

O – If we are truly Christians, living a surrendered life to Christ, we will bear fruit. God has no use for those who claim to know Him but do not obey Him or repent. To be productive for God we must obey His teachings, resist temptation, actively serve and help others, and share our faith.

A – Too often in the world today, we are taught only the warm and cuddly sides of God. God is absolutely full of love and grace, but God is also a jealous and wrathful Father. By spending quiet times with Him daily, we are able to grow in the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord. Through this dedicated time we can come to know ALL of Him and not just the characteristics that make us comfortable.

P – Dear God, I pray that you continue to grow inside me. I confess that I have areas for growth in my spirit, such as bitterness, judgement, and pride. Although I may fail at times, I know the power of your redeeming love. Help me to not grow weary with guilt and doubt, but to stand strong on your truth and persevere by becoming the person you created me to be. In your sons name I pray, Amen.
